Our Beekeeping & Sustainability Story

From Hive to Home — The Swabees Story

At Swabees, everything begins with the bees. We are passionate beekeepers who believe that nature provides the finest ingredients for skin and body care — and that how we harvest those ingredients matters just as much as what we create with them.

Our Hives, Our Responsibility

Our beeswax and raw honey come directly from our own hives, tended with care and respect for the natural rhythms of the colony. We practise ethical, low-intervention beekeeping — never taking more than the bees can spare, and always ensuring the health and wellbeing of our colonies comes first.  We do not treat them with chemicals and have through dedication and hard work been able to sustain them as treatment free colonies.

We believe that healthy bees mean a healthy planet. Bees are responsible for pollinating around one third of the food we eat, and their decline is one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. By keeping our own hives and supporting local bee populations, we play a small but meaningful role in protecting these vital pollinators.

Small-Batch, Low-Waste Production

Every Swabees product is handmade in small batches using locally sourced, natural ingredients. We choose our suppliers carefully — prioritising those who share our commitment to sustainability, ethical sourcing, and minimal environmental impact.

Our packaging is designed with the planet in mind. We use recyclable, biodegradable, and reusable materials wherever possible, and we are continuously working to reduce our packaging footprint. Our Refill and Recycle programme means you can return empty containers to us rather than sending them to landfill.

No Nasties, Ever

We never use parabens, sulphates, or artificial preservatives in our products. What you see on the label is exactly what goes into your skin — pure, natural, and honestly made. We are also proud to be completely cruelty-free. You can read our full statement on animal testing here.

Our Commitment Going Forward

Sustainability is not a destination — it is an ongoing commitment. We are always looking for ways to reduce our impact, improve our practices, and give back to the natural world that makes everything we do possible.  We added solar panels and battery packs to our small holding in 2023 to generate as much of our own energy naturally, this is just the beginning, we hope to add to the farm expanding our own generation of energy further and no doubt taking in a few more rescue animals alongside he chickens and greyhounds.

Thank you for choosing Swabees. Every purchase supports ethical beekeeping, small-batch British craftsmanship, and a future where bees — and people — can thrive.
